The strengths of Bunny Nature
A competent team:
At Bunny, they know what they’re talking about and they work alongside specialist veterinarians.
Foods of optimal freshness
Bunny Nature prepares pellets for rabbits or guinea pigs to order. Thus, with each order placed by BAMM, the pellets are freshly produced before being packed and shipped to the Dordogne.
A composition adapted to the needs of each species
Whether it concerns rabbits or guinea pigs, Bunny Nature food has a composition adapted to everyone’s needs.
Guineapig Dream Basic pellets for guinea pigs
- These pellets are above all composed of a variety of 42 grassland plants (detailed composition on the product sheet). With plants from the native region of guinea pigs: Quinoa, amaranth, aronia berries & maca
- Their calcium/phosphorus ratio is ideal : 0.6% calcium / 0.4% phosphorus. They can therefore be part of a balanced diet, in the diet of guinea pigs requiring a controlled calcium diet.
- Blend of 3 different lengths of fiber to help maintain teeth and healthy intestinal flora.
- Rich in fibre: 21% – ensures healthy transit in addition to a diet very rich in hay.
- A low starch rate: 6% . Bunny Nature is one of the few brands to display the starch content of its foods. This rate is very important to take into account in the diet of domestic herbivores/folivores; too high a rate is a problem for transit. Click here to read our article on the subject. ( This article was written for rabbits but the reasoning can be applied to guinea pigs )
- An ideal form of granules for chewing and helping to maintain teeth.
- High share of stabilized vitamin C : 600mg / kg
- Available for Juniors : with higher calcium and protein content.
Rabbit Dream Basic pellets for rabbits
- These pellets are above all composed of 42 different plants from untreated meadows.
- Their calcium/phosphorus ratio is ideal : 0.6% calcium / 0.4% phosphorus. They can therefore be part of a balanced diet, in the diet of rabbits requiring a controlled calcium diet.
- Blend of 3 different lengths of fiber to help maintain teeth and healthy intestinal flora.
- Optimal crude fiber (21%) – starch (6%) proportion: A ratio that protects pet rabbits from fattening. Weight is often a problem in these small animals that are sometimes too sedentary . Low in fat : 2.7%

Importance of the Crude Fibre/Starch Ratio
Crude fiber:
Crude fiber is particularly important for the health of rabbits: for digestion, the intestine and, together with the large fiber structure, for tooth wear. A good diet should contain about 20% crude fiber.
Starch:
Starch mainly provides energy and must be present in limited quantities in the diet. The guide value of starch for a good food is less than 7%. Also, the energy supply must be called suboptimal.
A change in the crude fibre/starch ratio can lead to long-term health deterioration:
- Too little crude fiber leads to constipation, altered intestinal flora and bowel dysfunction.
- Too much starch leads to diet, changes in the intestinal flora, gas production, diarrhea, fermentation, adiposity.
Considering these arguments, the recommendation of veterinarians to respect the crude fiber to starch ratio of 3:1 as a minimum value becomes clear.
How can I really know the starch content of food?
The composition helps you a lot here: whole cereal grains (with the floury kernel containing starch), beans, potatoes or peas indicate that a high starch content is to be expected .
Calcium requirement of rabbits and guinea pigs
In rabbits, calcium metabolism is special. The calcium existing in the body is mainly found in the bones and teeth. The supply of calcium with food is therefore particularly important for the maintenance of good health in animals.
High calcium content in adult rabbits or guinea pigs can lead to urinary sand or even bladder stones, as this is excreted through the urine. It is therefore important to choose the correct food components.
Optimal calcium levels in the basic diet
- Young animals: 0.9%*
- Adult animals: 0.6%
